Bill Barlow returns for his 24th season as Los Angeles Harbor College Men’s Soccer Head Coach.

As the head coach for the Seahawks, Barlow has compiled a record of 227W-145L-108T. The Seahawks men’s program has had success throughout coach Barlow’s tenure. He helped the Seahawks win two South Coast Conference titles and has also helped a plethora of players get recruited to top universities such as, LMU, UCI, CAL, Vanguard, Kansas Wesleyan, CSDHU, CSLaA, Marymount, Cal Baptist, and St. Mary’s to name a few.

 

Head coach Bill Barlow prides himself in having discipline and dedicated teams, which encourages self-development and growth. His philosophy and ability to work with players has not only changed his players’ perspective on soccer, but more importantly on life. He has helped many of his student/athletes become life learners and productive citizens by leading the path in becoming professionals in other fields outside of soccer. His commitment and dedication has allowed head coach Bill Barlow put his teams in a totally different platform. He has helped over 100 players get recruited during his tenure.

JOSE HERNANDEZ

​Jose Hernandez returns for his 7th season as Los Angeles Harbor College Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach.  

 

Jose graduated from Los Angeles Harbor College with an Associates of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, was a two year starter where he earned a South Coast Conference title and was nominated to the all conference team. He transferred to Vanguard University of Southern California as a two year starter for the Lions Men's soccer team and earned a GSAC title. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science in 2005, and a Master's degree in Education in 2009 from Loyola Marymount University.

 

As the assistant coach for the Seahawks, Jose has helped coach Barlow continue the tradition of maintaining the Seahawks a constant conference and state contender making playoffs every year he has assisted the team. He is a big asset in helping players transfer to four year universities. He believes that every student athlete has the capacity to succeed inside and outside the classroom and that "success is a mindset", which leads to overall success!

TIBU CASILLAS

Assistant Coach

Tibu Casillas returns to Los Angeles Harbor College Men’s Soccer Team for his 5th season as Assistant Coach.

 

A 2008 alumni from Los Angeles Harbor, he transferred to Cal Baptist University. In 2010 while at CBU, he was named the NAIA Men's Soccer National Offensive Player and earned the Lancer's their first appearance in the NAIA National Playoffs. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Law, he traveled to Central America to play for two seasons with Coatepeque FC in Guatemala, Central America.

 

Returning home a seasoned inter-collegiate athlete with professional level experience, he now is coaching at the highschool and college levels. As the newest assistant coach for the Seahawks, Tibu's passion, skill, and commitment will bring the men's soccer team to perform their best, on and off the field.

Roberto Gonzalez

Assistant Coach

Roberto Gonzales returns to Los Angeles Harbor College Men’s Soccer Team for his 2nd season as Assistant Coach.

 

Gonzalez graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills in 1998 with two Bachelor's degrees: Mathematics and Spanish. He completed his Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletics Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2018 where he received the MCAA Award of Excellence for his service to athletics and to the community.

 

Gonzalez is currently the Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach at John C. Fremont High School, in South LA, a position he has held since the year 2000. He also coached the Co-ed Cross-Country team for several years. He has been a mathematics teacher at Fremont since 1998. 

 

At the Club level he was the team manager and assistant coach with the South Bay Gunners and DMS11 Academy, where he won several prestigious tournaments in Southern California, including Surf Cup, Legends Cup, Santa Barbara SC Summer Cup, and Cerritos Memorial Challenge Cup, just to name a few.

  • Two-time CIF City Section Coach of the Year - 2012 and 2016

 

Gonzalez and his wife Zulma, a Narbonne High School Spanish teacher, reside in Carson with their two sons - Carlos and Diego.
