Coach Geoff Skarr enters his 19th season coaching Cross Country and brings a genuine passion to Los Angeles Harbor College as he embarks on the journey ready to lead the resurgence of the Cross Country team back to its championship form and compete with the best in California.
Being a community college student-athlete himself, competing under Matt Ebiner, Don Ruh, John Norton and Doug Todd at Mount San Antonio College (1993-1995) and coached by legendary Duane Vandenbusche at Western State College of Colorado, Coach Skarr, the two time South Coast Conference “Coach of The Year” brings an abundance of knowledge and experience to assist all student-athletes achieve prominent success to Harbor College. Coach Skarr is USA Track & Field Level II certified (endurance) and earned his Masters’ (Kinesiology–Pedagogy) from Cal State University of Los Angeles. Coach Skarr has helped produce multiple student-athletes’ attain their ultimate goal of transferring on to the University of their dreams. These include UC Berkley, UNLV, New Mexico Highlands, UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego, Syracuse, Eastern Oregon, Southern Oregon, Concordia, Southern Utah and Western State Colorado to name a few.
Coach credits his wealth of wisdom and strength from his insightful coaching experiences at El Camino College, under Coach Dean Lofgren (internship) Long Beach City College, Rio Hondo and Los Angeles Trade Tech College (best combined XC program at the State Championships men and women-2010) where he has coached over 16 “All Americans”, 3 State Championships, 3 runner-up State Champions along with 126 Cross Country runners to the State Cross Country Championships.
