Bio

New LA Harbor women's basketball head coach Jason Jaramillo is deeply involved in the basketball community, serving as head coach for West Coast Elite’s Los Angeles 17U National Team, and as an advanced scout for the Los Angeles Sparks, president of Lambda Basketball (Los Angeles’ LGBTQ+ Basketball League), and vice president of the National Gay Basketball Association.

He recently was an assistant coach on Bridgette Reyes' staff at NCAA Division III Clark University in Massachusetts. During his two seasons at Clark, he played a vital role in revitalizing the program and helping the team to achieve some remarkable achievements. The team garnered recognition from the WBCA for achieving a team GPA of 3.74, ranking ninth in the nation. The team won the Worcester City Tournament beating crosstown rival WPI in the championship game.

Additionally, Clark achieved its best record in more than 12 years, securing a spot in the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time in seven seasons. His impact on the basketball program can also be seen off the court with the recruitment of talented student-athletes and emphasis on building a team culture around Clark’s  “GROWL” (Gratitude, Resilience, Ownership, We > Me & Locked In) team motto. Jaramillo also directed Clark Athletics Intramurals and served on the Clark Athletics DEI+B Committee.

Prior to Clark, Jaramillo served under Bradley Alexander for three seasons at D3 Sarah Lawrence College (New York).  He helped that program achieve its best win/loss record and most conference wins in a season.

A pivotal learning role in Coach Jaramillo’s coaching career came when he served as an assistant at Santa Ana College (CA) under Flo Luppani. During his time at Santa Ana, Jaramillo had a multi-faceted role, contributing to player development for posts and wing players, handling day-to-day team duties, and overseeing recruitment, team fundraising, organization of the SAC Showcase, and budget management. While at Santa Ana, the program had five student-athletes named All-Orange Empire Conference, including WBCA Junior College All-American and CCCAA Southern California Player of the Year--Blaysen Varnadoe.

Jaramillo previously was an assistant coach at Chadwick School for two seasons. A native of San Pedro, he started his career journey as a student at LAHC and an intern in the athletic department. Currently, he resides in Rancho Palos Verdes with his husband and their dogs, Ruggles & Buster.
